Maybe I'm totally wrong here - but it doesn't seem to add up. Furthermore, why aren't performance shops being shut down - it seems to me at least in my area they are thriving and show no signs of stopping. If this was truly an issue why aren't these events being shut down - they are very well publicized, so it can't be for lack of knowing they're going on. A good bit of these cars all run custom tunes. There are 7 of these events occurring this year alone, with one said event that began with 350+ cars having ended last night. In these events you literally take your drag car that is street legal and drive up to 2k miles from track to track across the country and race at each track. These street legal variants are all over the place, and there are events held annually known as Drag-Rally's or Drag n Drives. There are tons of motorsports here in the US in the form of autocross, drifting, drag-racing, etc - these aren't lost to you or the rest of the world as you guys host one of the most bad a!# motorsports competitions in the world "Summernats" - (would love to come to one of these by the way).Īll of these (with the exception of certain classes) make use of factory cars that were once road bound (and in some cases still are considered street legal).
